Today we have on our episode an amazing gentleman who works with top performing high earners in his gym called Super Kai Martial Arts and Fitness. His name is Jason Wright. Welcome to the show, jason.
Speaker 2:Thank you. I appreciate you having me, jacqueline, it's a pleasure.
Speaker 1:As always, it's a pleasure. As always, oh my gosh. Okay. Well, I am so excited about this episode because you are, you really just dominate the field of fitness, and it's not just about hitting a goal or trying to get into, you know, a certain, a certain weight class, but it's definitely a lifestyle for you, right?
Speaker 2:yes, it's definitely a lifestyle. It's right, yes, it's definitely a lifestyle. It's pretty much a way of life, definitely, so yeah yeah, definitely a way of life.
Speaker 1:Okay, well, I got a first. My first question for you is is definitely about training. So your training style is very it produces results, and that's all you focus in on is driven results, right, and so when you're working with your clients, your only focus is results. And you know, the one thing that I found very phenomenal about what you do is that I've gone to the gym, I worked with personal trainers, you know but you actually like immerse yourself into your techniques and you also get really super involved with your clients. And you also get really super involved with your clients and you're making sure that they're actually achieving the optimal results that they came for right.
Speaker 2:Right. So when you say results, you know we think about just the fitness results, which is there.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:What is results so?
Speaker 1:yes, tell us so results.
Speaker 2:So I focus on functional training, but also you. You, each person has a different need and so I tune my relationship and interaction with that person. So for a lot of people it's therapy, A lot of people it's conditioning. Maybe they're training for sports, a sports activity, or maybe martial arts, whatever the goal is, or even if it's weight loss, feel better about yourself therapy. So there's so much to what results? So you know, you just kind of have to count all these achievements on your journey. I call them fitness journeys because there's so much more you learn about it and also how it relates to everyday life.
Speaker 1:And I love what your philosophy is. It's about a lifestyle. It's not just about a goal or achieving you know a certain target. It is a lifestyle and it's about how you're treating your body and you know really what you're putting into it. So you really emphasize on nutrition as well, not just about fitness, but you also focus on those results for physique also. I mean, I guess that's definitely feeling good about yourself is how you look good too and how you're showing up right.
Speaker 2:Oh, definitely, because, I mean, everybody knows this you can train all you want and get minimal results, but unless you focus on better eating habits, nutrition, being mindful of this, fasting Fasting is very important, and so you know we can get into that, but you have to have control over your you know nutrition to get the maximum benefits. You'll feel good, you'll start to realize your performance is better, your sleep better.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:You start building muscle, you start losing the weight. So it's all really about how you feel, because how you feel is how you're going to show up and perform, not just in the gym, but everyday life.
Speaker 1:Yeah, absolutely so. Let's talk about your program. So you really focus in on quality right, it's not just about showing up for you because you really push every single person that enters into your doors, into your facility, into your gym. You really push them to their peak performance. So you work and focus on quality. Tell us a little bit about, because you do martial arts, but then you also do fitness and personal training. So talk to us about martial arts. What can one expect when they enter into your dojo?
Speaker 2:So when they enter they're going to learn a whole new culture. You know pretty much, leave your worries, your problems, attitudes at the door when you come in.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:Bow. Before you enter the mat, show respect to everyone that comes in and also you have to humble yourself to the training. There may be things you don't like doing. You might not like wearing a uniform.
Speaker 1:I know I didn't when I started.
Speaker 2:But if you want to open yourself and be coachable, be a blank slate. You know that's pretty much as a white belt. You're a blank slate. You're open to absorbing all the knowledge that your teacher has to offer you, and also your partners, your classmates, those who are here to teach by example and help you grow. So you know it's gonna be a kick in the butt because for some, just like myself, when I first joined martial arts or a first internship of martial arts, I was already in football. I was I was in high school, by the way, and I thought I was in shape and I was dying the first 15 minutes of warm-up, and so that was a very humbling experience. So be prepared to be humbled, but through being humbled you're able to grow. So keep that in mind.
Speaker 1:I love that. I love what you said, though, about showing respect. When you get there, it's a discipline, it's a respect factor, and then also, you're going to learn new techniques that become very could be humbling, but also they become a part of who you are in your everyday life as well, so that's really awesome. Ok, I want to talk to you about your she's a boss fitness class. So you have one at 5 am, and then you also have one at 9 am. Your program she's a Boss is directly focused and designed around high-earning, six-figure women, earning business owners, entrepreneurs, ceos, directors just high performers. So tell us a little bit about this program and why are you targeting six-figure earning women? Boss baddies, I should say.
Speaker 2:Because boss baddies need assistance too, as far as you know if they're going to perform. You know at their best and they've definitely. They definitely have their own achievements. You know throughout life, well, even in their career, yes, and you know a lot of people. They put their self last.
Speaker 1:Especially if they're a mom.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yes.
Speaker 1:A mom and a boss?
Speaker 2:Oh no, and so you know, I just want to encourage you know those baddies.
Speaker 1:Boss, baddies Boss baddies.
Speaker 2:I just want to encourage them to you know, put yourself first, like, make time for yourself. You know we have a program that's going to help you. I'm very good at working with people. It doesn't have to be very scary as far as like if you think you're going to be overwhelmed because you put yourself last or you haven't focused on your fitness and health. Just you know, on the on the road to achieving success, um, that I'm going to meet you at where you're at and build you up.
Speaker 2:You know, there there's so much we can do from conditioning, I'm sorry, from strength and conditioning, cardio, mobility, flexibility, and also some martial arts training, heavy bag training. So I want to give you a versatile Well, I give them a variety of exercises, which has its own structures, but the program grows with their progress and so it's definitely unique and there's different levels from it, from being a beginner to being an intermediate and then also being an advanced. And the challenging part about this well, not the challenge, but the benefit about this is you're making time for yourself, which means you're going to be even more powerful in what you do in your career and in life.
Speaker 1:Awesome. So a 5 am class that's pretty much determination before dawn. And then you have your 9 am class and these are three day a week, a three day a week program. So it's Monday, wednesday and Friday. I love that you specified that you have to be a six figure, top producing, earning woman, either a CEO, an entrepreneur or just a high earning professional, and I think that that's an amazing community that you're building, because you're bringing these women that are already top achievers you know they're really at the top of their game already and they are people that want to win and you're bringing that community together in this class, and then they're also there to support each other and encourage one another that we could do this, but I can imagine there's also some benefits in networking too.
Speaker 2:Definitely. You know I mean it's camaraderie. You know benefits in networking and you know you're doing this together and that's what's important. So you know it's an exclusive program.
Speaker 1:Okay, so you work with top performance, high achievers, right? Top earners in the city of San Antonio. What do you think the biggest misconception for top producers are when it comes to focusing on their fitness?
Speaker 2:Well, I think the so it's usually the same thing. I don't have time for it.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:So what's important is to you is what you're going to make time for, and so you have to, you know, put your brain in a space to where you want to focus on yourself. First, you want it as bad as you've achieved your success in your career.
Speaker 1:So it's not just about how big is your bank account and everything that you've achieved accolades and all of that. I mean it's really about how you are showing up physically, too right, and when somebody is working out with you and they're starting to see those results. But those results are not just in measurement. They're also in their energy level, in their focus, clarity. Tell us a little bit about that.
Speaker 2:So that energy level. It actually shows up in different ways so you know, you can say the inches, your, your functionality. Let's say you're going up a flight of stairs, you're not out of breath, you actually have energy. Going up the stairs and all those lunges and squats you've been doing is actually paying off mental fortitude it. To some, even including myself, it's a form of meditation. So stress relief.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:You know you have a sense of calm throughout the day. You're problem solving Even as you're training and you're working out like you're actually doing your problem solving. Yeah, I see this a lot in martial arts as well, and through your challenges and you accomplishing and reaching goals, you know there's a whole journey in between there and their skills. You're learning and skills that you can use in your everyday life.
Speaker 1:No, this is great because I had the opportunity of working out with you, really helped me stretch my mental capacity to see, like gosh, what am I made out of and gaining, really harnessing that mental fortitude, that mental toughness right and pushing through my challenges, breaking through barriers, because even successful I would say successful women, successful men they kind of get to this place and then they get comfortable right and that's in business or just even in life, with the successes that they've been able to achieve. And then it's like what's next? Like what's that next thing that we're shooting for.
Speaker 2:you know, and you know just again as somebody that has really focused on their career and you know just again as somebody that has really focused on their career, made it their whole life's journey, is like my career, my career, and then kind of put my health and and I try on these outfits and I'm like, oh, it doesn't look so great that you make. And so in the short time that we've worked together I've noticed like a difference in your performance, let's say in the in this fitness studio. But I want to hear from you on how has it impacted?
Speaker 1:you, oh, not you turning the tables over here.
Speaker 2:How has it impacted your I mean for someone that's already powerful in your career. How has it impacted you?
Speaker 1:No, I really have to say stamina After I go and work out with you. It's like it's not even a second, like I don't even have to second guess it. It's like, okay, I got to go to the gym, I got to go Monday, wednesday, friday. I have to be there Sunday. We work out on Sundays too. So Monday, wednesday, friday, sunday, and I'm there and I'm showing up.
Speaker 1:In the beginning, the first week was really hard. I'd say the first two days was just mentally hard. Like, oh my gosh, I don't want to do this Now. I don't even have to think about it, it's just a part of like who I am right now and this is even after two weeks. But I can say I'm able to fit back into some jeans that I wasn't able to fit into and I'm telling you, I really put my, my health and my fitness on the back burner and it was like I was really achieving all these different things.
Speaker 1:But the one thing I wasn't achieving was how I look, you know and and, as a person that's in business, as a person that has to go to meetings and present themselves, and even you being a brand Right to meetings and present themselves, and even you being a brand right when you think about individuals that are a brand for their company, like how are you showing up and what do you look like? You know, do you feel confident in how you look? And really working with you, in the last two weeks you've started to help me gain back that confidence about how I look and how I'm showing up and that energy level just that's, jacob. It's on a whole nother level. That's, and how I'm showing up and that energy level just ask Jacob, it's on a whole nother level.
Speaker 2:That's awesome. So I'm going to ask you one more question, because this is how I work. Wait wait, wait.
Speaker 1:I'm the question asker.
Speaker 2:So imagine yourself three months down the line, four months down the line, with this new routine of you working on yourself. Imagine what that version of Jacqueline is going to be. You're already a powerhouse. Imagine you know you're, you have the fitness that you want. You have new goals because along your journey you're, you know you see yourself differently. You start, you know, reaching higher and higher. So you don't just stay in that comfort zone. I know you mentioned that earlier you. You know, and of course, being comfortable is the killer of ambition.
Speaker 2:But as you're on this journey, you're taking steps forward. You're seeing more of a horizon.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:As you move forward, you see more of what's possible, and so just imagine how that version of yourself, the higher version of yourself, is going to show up and feel. So when I'm working with people, I tap into that, that higher self. You have to envision that. You know like you took the. You took the first steps, which was the hardest steps as far as showing up, starting to work on yourself, making time for it yes, the making time for it right yeah, making time for yourself, because you know, if you you don't, if you don't make time for yourself, like you're limited to what you can do for others.
Speaker 1:Absolutely, absolutely. But here's the one thing that I notice as well is that how do you negotiate? Well, I'm a high powered career person, right, woman man? How do you negotiate that with saying but I'm doing good over here, so it's okay that I'm not going to the gym, it's okay that I'm not, you know, looking my best or fitting into those genes that I once loved. You know, there I just feel like there's no compromise right now. And the mindset that I'm in right now and just working towards not working towards a goal, working towards that lifestyle, I just feel like there is no compromise. There is no compromise. How can we be these? I'm a woman, so how can I be this boss baddie? How can I be this boss baddie but not show up for myself If I'm critiquing in all these other areas and I'm a top performer in here, but say I'm not a top performer in my health? Those two things don't go hand in hand, you know, and that's what I realized.
Speaker 2:You know there's some, there's a lot of people that make that work and they get so far. Just, you just have to imagine the quality of your life and the impact you can have when you do focus on yourself. So there's different levels, different layers, and so you have to hold yourself to a certain standard, yeah, and so if you're OK with where you're at, you feel like you're happy, you're at peace Fine. But for those that need that need more, you know there's. You have to make that decision, and it it starts with you.
Speaker 1:The one thing that I really love about your your client base that you target is you really focus on those six-figure earners right, and those people are already in the position where they're thinking about achieving, they're thinking about their wins. You know they are top performers and so how do you hold somebody like that accountable to their fitness, even though they're accountable to their business and you know other life responsibilities?
Speaker 2:Well, I mean, it's kind of like a relationship that you built and you constantly have to be engaged with those people, which I do. I engage with them. Sometimes it just can't work, but there's things you can do on your own. If you're on a business trip, you know I can give you homework to do. There's something you can do, you know. Hey, let me know that you did your workouts.
Speaker 1:Her saying about focusing on accountability, how you give them homework.
Speaker 2:You know how this affects your ability to keep going, to do more, to have the energy to, let's say, if you're losing weight, looking good wearing the outfits you know that you want to wear. So I always tell people that one of my. I have a few motivations for why I focus on fitness, why fitness is my lifestyle. You know it's beyond martial arts and it's just beyond the gym. I love fashion.
Speaker 1:Yep.
Speaker 2:I love fashion, and so it feels good to just wear whatever you want or you know, be you know, just express yourself in that way, and then I'm a foodie also. You know, I know it sounds like a contradiction, but very much, so you know. I love teach me your tricks well, it all comes with, you know, consistency and discipline, and there's times that I'm like, okay, I want to try out some new spots, or there's some spots, all right. Right, let me put it on the calendar, so you know I'll be so.
Speaker 1:You work it in according to your schedule.
Speaker 2:It's my treat, yeah, so be extra diligent on your you know workout plan.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:That's what I do, and extra, extra diligent on my nutrition. Also, sleep is very important. I take the time to meditate as well.
Speaker 1:Also sleep is very important.
Speaker 2:I take the time to meditate as well.
Speaker 1:Yes, it's very important as well, and I think I think you're also the one thing about accountabilities If we're going to talk about that is that I think that also comes along the lines of that. You are trusted, you're like a trusted advisor when it comes to all things health, all things fitness, all things mindset, mental toughness. You know all of that stuff. You're very much a trusted advisor. I really believe in anything you tell me to do, anything that you're saying that I need to stay away from or work on. I'm like you're my, you're my Yoda.
Speaker 2:Well, thank you. It all comes from building those relationships.
Speaker 1:It does emphasize building relationships for sure.
Speaker 2:Just being like showing up, no matter what? Yeah, just, you know, all these years I've been doing this for a while and you know that's pretty much what I've been known as. Not only that, you know what other fitness instructor slash martial arts? You know martial arts master, do you know? Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1:Well, the other thing, too, is that, even in a short period of time of working with you, in two weeks I've already seen, like I said, results. I'm being able to fit back into jeans that I wasn't able to fit into three weeks ago, which is awesome. My energy level's up. I'm sleeping better. I mean I think that's amazing, and then I'm getting the best sleep of my, of my life ever, at the age that I'm at right now, and so I've really seen dramatic results. And I can tell you this I've worked out with other personal trainers. I worked out in gyms, I've done the circuit trainings, I've done the the high intensity trainings. I've gone to the gym by myself. I mean, I've done it all right. I mean, a lot of people that are listening to this episode right now has probably been where I'm at. I've done everything under the sun. But the one thing that I've noticed is, with you, I've actually achieved results in a very short period of time, and we're just getting started.
Speaker 2:We're just ramping up well, the key is to um make an experience um. If you make it an experience, it excites the person to be in that space to you know it's no longer. Oh, I have to go work out. Oh, I get to work out, I get to go hang out at super kai, and you know yes and you know whoever else is in there. That's become part of the community, or? But as we're training, I teach you a bit more than what you think you're going in there for.
Speaker 2:So, if you're coming into, coming in for just some weight training, some weight loss, you know be like, hey, have you ever done any martial arts training? Or you know, I'll start teaching you different techniques and of course that correlates to empowering you. You're not just, you're not just losing weight or getting stronger, you're learning to defend yourself. You're learning techniques and just learning those techniques. There's different lessons different lessons.
Speaker 1:But, yeah, no, definitely.
Speaker 1:The one thing that I also love too is that when I come into your community, I know that I'm not alone.
Speaker 1:I know that I'm going to be around and surrounded by other like for me. I go to she's a boss training Monday, wednesday and Friday and I know that I'm going to be surrounded by other women that are like at the same mental capacity that I'm at but also struggling through the same life things that I'm dealing with as well. So, being a mom running a business, you know all of that stuff and and just trying to feel good about myself, and I need as much energy as I possibly can I'm able to relate to other women that are in there, whereas I can go to a fitness class that you know, another gym, and I don't really make those connections with people because we're at so many. Everybody's at a different place in their life, and then a lot of the women there are also moms too, so they're running households, they're running businesses and you know they're just making it all work and I feel like I'm in that community that just really speaks to me.
Speaker 2:So and that's true.
Speaker 1:Thank you.
Speaker 2:That's great feedback. I love it.
Speaker 1:Yes, Thank you. Okay, so I guess my my next question to you is like I love the excuses, right there's. I don't have time, Uh, what's another excuse?
Speaker 2:Hmm, let's see, I don't have time. I oh, that's the biggest one. Oh well, family kids I have kids. Well, it's the same thing as time.
Speaker 1:No time.
Speaker 2:Work is time? Yeah, no.
Speaker 1:OK. So the one thing that that I got to out of this whole thing was like I really love the fact that when you break down the class itself because another big misconception is is like, oh, personal training and working out in a specific class, it's just so expensive. And then when I actually broke it down, I was like, wow, okay, each class is like the literally the price of a margarita at uh, moon's daughter, right yes, yes so I okay, wait.
Speaker 1:For the price of a margarita Moon's daughter, you can get into the best shape of your life. Go to that branded store that you absolutely love and actually fit into those jeans and fit into that dress where you don't have to worry about how you look.
Speaker 2:Well, you've got to invest in yourself, because you know that's another excuse that people use, which is understandable. You know everyone has their own circumstances.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:But it's all about where you what you want to invest in. Sure, like it's OK to go out and, you know, enjoy yourself, but where? If you can't invest in yourself, then at what point are you going to make the time to do that? Because you're making the time for everything else. Once again, there's nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 2:But if you want to add quality to your life and constantly stuck in the same position, not being happy with how you look, not fitting into your clothes, having low confidence, low self-esteem and energy levels being low, just imagine what happens when you put yourself first and intentionally, you know, make sure you have a budget set for yourself, make sure that you make the time for yourself and, you know, get some expert help, guidance, yes, expert, because, at the end of the day, here's what it comes down to.
Speaker 1:If everything that you were doing worked, you would be getting the results that you're looking for. And if you're not getting those results, I mean, here's what I can say Jason Wright is your man. If you're in the San Antonio area, he's your guy.
Speaker 2:Thank you. So one thing I want to add. So you're either going to invest in yourself now or pay for it later on in life, and that's a lot more expensive.
Speaker 1:So oh my gosh.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 1:OK, no, it definitely is. I kind of want to touch base on this, this topic and maybe this is a hands off topic for you, I don't know, but I'm going to throw it out there. Let's talk about semi-glutide. So a lot of the community right now I mean, you see it all over social media, you see it in the media A lot of people are, a lot of women specifically are turning to semi-glutide because they're looking for that quick fix. But the one thing that you know, just in looking at the results that people are getting and then also understanding that it still is a lifestyle so if you're not changing your lifestyle even though you did it, you got those quick results you're still going to go back to what you were in the beginning, and so you invested all that time I mean all that money to still get the same results that you were when you first started, right?
Speaker 2:Correct and unfortunately that's the mindset of a lot of people. But they just need guidance and people to set that example of the right way. Because it's more than just your outer looks and also what's on the scale is how you treat the inner part. You know, your inside of your body. How do you treat yourself? Like you've got to make time for your exercises? You've got to make time. I mean, you've got to eat better. Eat right and sleep once again is important, but like you're not going to fix the cause of how you got here. You know, unless you actually intentionally do it.
Speaker 1:Yes, I love that intention. This is all about attention. Okay, so really quick. What would you say to anybody that's on the fence right now about their health, their fitness, their physique, looking good, showing up, being that billboard for their boss, like for I mean, for their business, you know, for themselves, for their brand, like, what would you say to somebody on the fence that could that they need to hear that will literally get them to jump and take action for themselves and invest in themselves so a lot of people just do it just do it, just do it.
Speaker 2:It's easy, you know, but you hear that all the time. But a lot of people need to tap into their the best version of themselves.
Speaker 2:Everyone has an idea of what that looks like, hence why we have goals like oh I want to look better on a loose wake, I feel I want to be pretty you know, and so tap into that and realize the what's going, what it's going to require to get there, and not only how you look, how do you feel, how do you interact in the world. You know what? Who are you to, other people Are, you inspiring others. So make it a bigger picture than just the aesthetics, and start now and just do it.
Speaker 1:Well, I'm a grandma of four and what I can say? I need the stamina, I need the energy, I need the longevity. Right, and it isn't what you just said, it isn't just about aesthetics, it is about that mental capacity, about that fortitude, about the strength and endurance that you have to get through the day without saying I need a nap.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean I went through a part of my life. You know where naps were. A thing is so it's chapters ago, years and years ago. Now it's like it's not even a concept because I'm constantly, you know, being intentional, you know making this a lifestyle for myself and it's like once you make those changes and improve yourself, like how you feel now about things is gonna not, it's not going to matter, like the future you has a different mindset. They're like no, you know, nap I mean naps are good, I can sleep at night. I'll make intentional time for that. I have better, I have more energy because you know I am number one, sleeping better. I'm exercising, training throughout the day and I am eating better.
Speaker 1:Yes, no definitely.
Speaker 2:It does affect your ability to focus throughout the day and the quality of life. So if you're feeling sluggish and always feel like you need that energy drink or you need coffee just to operate and function at life, we were not meant to, we were not meant to have a dependency or be a junkie. I'll say be a junkie. We were not meant to do that. We were meant to be able to function, have quality of life, high quality of life that quality of life and you know I just want to.
Speaker 1:I kind of want to finish off with this I literally recently got a a whole entire hormone imbalance. I got a hysterectomy. You know, a whole life change happened for me and I needed to make some, you know, drastic moves. I needed to really change up my routine and my lifestyle and I can honestly say after that experience, you were the best decision that I made because it really helped me balance everything back, you know, back to normal and back back to even functionality. So thank you so much.
Speaker 2:Oh, thank you. Well, thank you for the opportunity to work with you and, like I said, we're just getting started. There's levels. Yes, Well we're going to have fun along the way.
Speaker 1:Okay, well, you heard it. You heard it here. You heard it from Jason Wright. He is Super Kai martial arts and fitness at Freedom Drive and he is doing amazing things in all kinds of different people top professionals at the top of their game.
